Just recently I created a Goal Tree for our agile release train, that I extended with our key epics in what I call LTP4Scrum to be able to communicate our roadmap in a visual and logical way, to be able to answer where are we going, why is what we are doing now necessary.
The Goal Tree also do is helping us say NO to things not contributing to our roadmap, just by checking if there is a logical dependency to anything in our roadmap.
I recommend everyone to learn how to use the Goal Tree to help you drive your part of the organization with logical motivations behind your plan that can be visually readable by everyone.
The best thing is that you in a day will be rather good at creating your tree.
